Heneb HER Officer Melissa Lambe has been announced as a finalist in the 2025 Archaeological Achievement Awards, celebrating outstanding contributions to archaeology across the UK and Ireland.

The Awards, organised by the Council for British Archaeology, shine a spotlight on the people, projects, and organisations using archaeology to enrich society, support wellbeing, and strengthen connections to place.

Melissa has been shortlisted in the Early Career Archaeologist of the Year category.

“Melissa Lambe is a key member of the Heneb team and has exemplified many of the attributes that our wider team of archaeologists in Heneb demonstrate in their daily work including passion, integrity, and a deep-rooted knowledge of the historic environment of Wales.

During 2025, Melissa has been instrumental in helping to shape and present archaeological information about projects across north Wales, in the Welsh language, to engage new audiences, for example, at the National Eisteddfod in Wrexham and by recording a series of videos during a community excavation at Greenfield Valley Heritage Park.

The Heneb team is delighted to see Melissa being recognised by the Council for British Archaeology as an Early Career Archaeologist, and we hope that Melissa’s journey continues to be one through which she benefits from the experience of our senior archaeologists and sector colleagues to further develop her skills.” – Richard Nicholls, CEO Heneb

The winners will be revealed at a special ceremony on Friday 28 November 2025, held in the historic Great Hall at Queen’s University Belfast. The event will also be live-streamed on the Council for British Archaeology’s YouTube channel, enabling audiences everywhere to join the celebration.
