Produced to mark Cardigan’s 900th anniversary in 2010, this booklet traces the town’s development from its origins as a medieval frontier settlement through to the present day. It highlights the role of the castle, its religious foundations, and Cardigan’s place in Welsh cultural history as the birthplace of the Eisteddfod. Commissioned by Ceredigion County Council with support from Cadw and partner organisations, the survey provides a framework for sustainable development within the historic town centre while emphasising the importance of protecting Cardigan’s distinctive archaeological and historic character for future generations.
