Perched on a mountainside on the western fringe of the Brecon Beacons National Park is a remarkable landscape of craggy cliffs, grassy humps and bumps and enigmatic ruins. For more than 200 years this beautiful place was a hive of industrial activity where limestone was quarried and processed to make lime.CALCH was a three year project which aimed to research the lime industry of the Black Mountain in Carmarthenshire and to improve access and interpretation to encourage new visitors to the area.Please explore this website to discover more about the project, the history of the lime industry and many other fascinating things about lime!
