This project, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund with support from the Defence Infrastructure Organisation and Cadw, investigated the First World War training landscape at Penally. In 2019, geophysical survey and targeted excavation examined the practice trenches, rifle range and Yeomanry Field, identifying well-preserved trench profiles (including sand-lined sections with corrugated sheeting), a small machine-gun pit and cartridge scatters.
