In 2007, Cadw commissioned Dyfed Archaeological Trust to assess prehistoric settlement and agricultural remains in Ceredigion that were under-represented in the Schedule of Ancient Monuments. Of 112 sites initially identified, detailed desk-based assessments revealed relatively few of significant value compared with neighbouring counties. Thirty sites were visited, including examples from the Groes Fawr valley, where surveys have recorded a dense concentration of sites from the Bronze Age to the post-medieval period. The project highlighted cases of loss and degradation, but also integrated important survey data into the Historic Environment Record, ensuring this information is preserved and accessible for future research and management.
