This series of reports presents the first systematic assessment of military camps and training ranges across Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire, and the Preseli District of North Pembrokeshire. Established during the Second World War and in the years that followed, these sites include army and land army camps, depots, hospitals, prisoner of war camps, and training ranges. Drawing on documentary sources, aerial photographs, and GIS mapping, the project has greatly expanded the record of known sites, many of which were previously undocumented. Funded by Cadw as part of a wider Wales-wide programme, this research provides an essential foundation for understanding the impact of 20th-century conflict on the Welsh landscape and for guiding future fieldwork and heritage management.
